Text: 2 Corinthians 5:10, “For all us of must appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each may receive recompense for what has been done in the body, whether good or evil.”
Devotional: Today’s Advent theme is redemption. Jesus was born into a sinful world. We were and are all guilty of our sin. Yet, because of his love for us, God sent his son into the world to save us from that sin. That is what redemption is all about. The only perfect human to have ever lived took on the sin and guilt of mankind. He chose, because of love to bear our guilt, taking it upon himself.
Advent is the story of One who came to return us to the Father. “Once I was lost, but now I’m found” are words from Amazing Grace. They are true because of the redemption born that first Christmas. And because he pays for our guilt we stand that day not in fear of the judgment spoken in today’s text. It is about good not evil.
