Let It Go

Frozen Promo PictureLet me say, I am not one of those people who is anti-Disney (and I would appreciate those who are not using what I am about to say for that purpose). That stated, I am a little upset with them right now. I have grandchildren and the all love the movie Frozen. I have seen it a number of times and I have listened to the songs, especially "Let It Go" like a billion times. I know its chorus pretty well.

Let it go, Let it go

Can't hold it back any more.

Let it go, Let it go

Turn away and slam the door.

I am not an expert on song lyrics, but the whole songs speaks to me of not caring anymore. "I am going to do and be what I want, and forget what anyone thinks or wants." Granted, too many of us are paralyzed by others opinions and have trouble functioning. That is not healthy if carried to the extreme. Yet, as I listen to the song, i am troubled by attitude. I am also think, but again not an expert, that the movie is, in fact, a repudiation of its featured song. That we cannot simply let it go and not care. Enough on Frozen.

What really has me upset is the song steals a line that I tell people all the time, (and I am sure once Disney Corp. reads this they will send money). The line is the title, "Let It Go." People come to me to talk about issue they have with people: wrong committed, slights, mean, hurtful things and the like. "Let it go" is my forgiveness phrase.

"Growing up my mom . . ." Let it go.
"My neighbor . . ." Let it go.
"Last year I . . . and I am feeling very guilty." Let it go.

"It is not the shut the door cause I don't care anymore" kind of let it go. It is a forgiveness, not going to hold it against you kind of let it go. I am not going to expect anything kind of let it go. I am not going to demand an apology. I am not going to wait for payback. I am not going to wait for the universe to get even. Nor is it a OK, I forgive you, but never do it again" let it go. And it is not a "so long, nice to know you" let it go. It is an "I love you and care about you and I want a relationship" kind of let it go. We will walk away from this moment and still be family and friend.

I think this is the kind of let it go that was accomplished on the cross. God says, "as far as east is from west." He says, "I will remember your sins no more." Because of the blood of Jesus God has let it go.

If you are one of the nine people in the world who don't know the song, here is a link.
